Ari Drennen

Writer. Photographer. Occasionally airborne.

You found me on the internet. This is the rest of it — the essays, the photographs, the book, and a few ways to spend a day with me.

About

I ran the LGBTQ program at Media Matters for America, monitoring right-wing media and the disinformation machine aimed at LGBTQ people. My research and commentary have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR, and Democracy Now!, and in the documentary Heightened Scrutiny. I wrote the poetry collection Thoughts on Weightlessness, and I have a songwriting credit on Ekko Astral's Pink Balloons — Pitchfork's #1 rock album of 2024.

These days I write independently and run Pink and Blue Strategies, a narrative-intelligence consultancy for nonprofits and campaigns. Founder, principal, and the person answering the email.
